It’s time for another commentary episode! A lot of things have happened over the last few episodes of play, keeping the players on edge. They discuss how the character behave in a way that they normally wouldn’t. He wonders if the magic had something to do with it.

Jordan talks about how he used a piece of art to inspire his note-taking for this session. Johnny wants to increase Jorus’s magic. Aaron wishes that Benedict had been in the catacombs. The players note how much their characters are out of their element.

Jorus has become suspicious of Greyson’s abilities. He tries a little mind-reading. They go to visit Lord Cheddar, now the big cheese of the privy council. Benedict pronounces that the hand of God has whisked away Lord Liverich. The party proposes war against the Bae Van Shee.

As the Crew of the U.S.S. Roddenberry go to investigate the mysterious signal, they encounter… DANGER!! When an atmosphere leak occurs, Thogar has to choose: does he save himself by putting on his space suit, or will he close the air lock and save the crew?

Meanwhile, Ken Costigan and Keel have to evade strange projectiles coming off of the meteor. Isaac and Delta Zed work to repair the ship despite the shaking and jostling that is occurring.

The system is Cosmic Patrol from Catalyst games. It means to capture the golden era of science fiction, drawing inspiration from Buck Rogers, The Lensman, John Carter, “X Minus One”, and more. This episode, we meet the characters, and begin the mission. The crew members of the U.S.S. Roddenberry have to stop a comet that is careening towards Sol while emitting signals of odd origins! Things will end badly for poor Thor at his new job selling cars… Michael Warner has a conversation with his buddy, Tate. Joy’s mom, Liz, stops by, and there’s some awkward revelations… Leroy is done playing games with Michael. Time to break out the heavy artillery… When Harold’s car breaks down, Joy decides to thumb a ride. Unfortunately, she attracts the attention of the local fuzz…

BTT AG 1.17: Commentary 4

We also talk about how Jorus, with his “get-the-job-done” attitude and mind-reading ability, influenced the group. Mike and Jeremy talk about how different TV characters influenced their initial character concepts. Jordan talks about how hard it is not to lead the characters. Jeremy mentions how hard it was to avoid meta-gaming.

Mike received a character point for advancing Valentine Montecute the most, particularly in his mentoring relationship with Brother Benedict. Johnny got the character point for best roleplaying. The introduction of Jorus caused a maturation of the group. Johnny got the point for best snack for bringing home-made jalapeño poppers.

And it wouldn’t be a bone throwers session without some bad, bad puns.

Dan Macchio decides to confront Thor about his crimes, but Thor vigorously denies any wrongdoing. As usual.

When they arrive, the Angellan spymaster, Lord Walsham, is at the docks, too. He has a new associate, Jorus Glave. A lesser member of the royal family, Glave doesn’t immediately hit it off with the rest of the group…

After Thor’s unfortunate law enforcement encounter last episode, Michael Warner and Joy Campbell enjoy some weed together. Harold, her dealer, comes over with more weed. Harold tells Michael that he can provide him with both weed and weed killer.

Leroy has a flashback scene to the night when he broke his back. He finds a connection between Michael and Joy’s mother.

Joy negotiates a raise with her Chicken Hut manager, Harold, so she can buy a car. Shamus, the new employee, doesn’t make it past the training process.

On this commentary episode, we discuss the death of Byrom Michael and respecting the dice. Also, we mention the value of Mini Six’s in-game currency (hero points). We also discuss how the last episode was heavily tinged with horror, and the introduction of the terrifying Fae. Jordan talks about subverting expectations, particularly with the sacrifice.

For XP, Jordan awards all the surviving players 15 character points. Jeff won a character point for advancing Demetrius Norden’s character. Aaron won a point for best roleplaying. Johnny won a character point for bringing lemon merengue pie.

It’s crazy to think how long ago 2013 was. But, no matter when it’s recorded, an actual play episode!

In this episode, we introduce GAD-Con: the convention where we recorded. We also discuss the basics of Bully Pulpit’s Fiasco, and choose which playset we’re going to play. We settle on Home Invasion. We begin the process of creating characters, and just enjoy shenanigans in general.

Some references you hear include Misfits and the Flight of the Conchords song, “Business Time.” There’s also some references to the ongoing campaign we were playing at the time, Terra Proximus.

After sharing information, the party gets ready to infiltrate the Dyncham estate. As they prepare to do so, they are ambushed. Unfortunately, there will be a terrible consequence…
