BTT EoW 1.22: Here’s To Explosions

EOW

Yep, there’s more explosions in this episode. But it’s not what you may think. The bombs that are dropped here may crack some individual characters rather that the dome of the city. This all made for some pretty good role playing and even a couple interesting solo scenes. And yet again, this episode ends with one of those solo scenes for Sam. Yes, there is a cat.

We set up our franchise in this episode. Our choices of the franchise name, location, and financial status will determine some key details in the game. When we start rolling for what our technology limitations are, that adds some pretty interesting quirks that will provide some challenges for the business… but will make for some great storytelling for sure.

EOW

Because of his cooperation, Chime is released form custody. But we quickly see that even the most cooperative of citizens is not a trusted citizen. But that’s not all we learn. With the death of a key player in the Healing Hands, the evidence suggests that there are definitely more gears turning beneath the surface than our group was aware of. And even the face of the Healing Hands hides some truths that are quite troubling for one character in particular.

BTT Throwback: Eldritch High 4

EH

All our characters spring into action to bring an end to the battle, and along with it, the end of the school day, and our play session. Jordan explains the after-game adjustments that can be made to our characters to become better at their specific areas of study. We then slip into some commentary on the game play and how  the mechanics are a interesting departure from the dice systems that we are used to. We also share some of the things that make role playing games fulfilling for us a s a group, concluding that this is a system we would love to come back and play again.

BTT EoW 1.19: Commentary 4

EOWHere is the commentary episode on our recent “side-shot” sessions. We rehash our favorite moments, and highlight the key parts that will most-likely have an impact on the main story moving forward. The players applaud each other for their interesting roleplaying choices, and Jordan talks about how this method of fleshing out the world and the story was an ambitious endeavor. Overall, we had a blast doing this and really think this added so much to our story. But you be the judge and let us know as the story continues to unfold.

BTT Throwback: Eldritch High 3

We pick up the story in this episode at the end of the first long grueling day at Eldritch High. The students, however, have more excitement in store as the mystery surrounding Gareth and Mr. Twiggy is revealed. The lessons taught on the first day of school are already being put to use in the form of some extracurricular activity; a magical battle on the quad.

BTT EoW 1.18: It Wasn’t Cheese

EOW

We wrap up our “side-shot” series with an episode unlike any other… mostly because the dice were not at all kind to our characters. But even with the awful rolls, we dove into the dumpster and still came out with a great story as our group of street kids show a much different side of Consiglio. We had so much fun with this episode that there is a definite possibility that characters and themes established here will make their presence felt in the campaign moving forward.

BTT Throwback: Eldritch High 2

EH

In episode 2 of this throwback series we learn that Eldritch High, on the surface, is not much different than the average high school with trips to the Headmaster’s office, lunchroom cliques, and student’s jockeying for popularity… or avoiding it all together. But underneath their cool, self-aware exterior, something is brewing; something magical; something mysterious. …something sinister?

BTT EoW 1.17: Thought Crime

EOW

In our next “side-shot” episode, we get a glimpse of what North Bellasaira hopes to be the bright future of Consiglio. Our character and their classmates have been chosen to receive the best education at the country’s top prep school, from which the next generation of leaders will be trained. Even though it’s not all work and no play, there are still rules to follow, and the students all know that justice is dealt swiftly for those that make the slightest mis-step. But how will these prodigies handle the current crisis? Will they give all “for the council” and fall in line? Or will they crack under the pressure? …or both?

BTT Throwback: Eldritch High 1

EH

Here’s a throwback to a fun one-shot we ran called Eldritch High. In this episode, we talk about the different rule-sets of the system, introduce the characters, and gave life to our “Homeroom” in an interesting way so that there are plenty of NPCs to interact with.

BTT EoW 1.16: Fortune Cookie

EOW

Here is the 2nd episode of our “side-shots” to the main campaign. We had a lot of fun with this one, in large part due to our action-hero inspired personas for our characters. The dice seemed to agree with the sentiment, creating some pretty funny moments of play. But all joking aside, our team of military investigators show the Council’s swift response to the explosion. But it seems as though the mode of operation is to use a paintbrush dipped in a little injustice, to paint and sell the Council’s picture of justice.

BTT One-Shot: Star Wars 4 (Commentary)

zorii-bliss(edit)

This is not our normal commentary style episode, as we only briefly touch what we did in our play of the roleplaying game then jump fully into what we were all waiting for… our commentary/review of Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker. From the visuals, to acting, to our favorite scenes, we touch a little bit of everything, sharing our opinions on what we liked, what we didn’t like, and our differing theories on some of the finer details that are left to our imaginations. In the end, we had a great time discussing a saga that has been in the hearts of so many for 42 years!

After the exciting events of the last episode, we embark on a new way of telling the story. We’re taking a broader view of the city and how events are impacting different level of society. In this episode we are at ground zero of the explosion with a group of workers who frantically try to contain the damage. Enjoy the next few episodes for what we have called “side-shots” to our main story. We certainly did enjoy playing them.

zorii-bliss(edit)

So much for staying free from First Order entanglements. The regime seems to have a peculiar interest in Zorii’s crew, and there are some hints at the beginning of descent within the galactic superpower. Also, some of the players couldn’t help but dive headlong into some commentary on the movie an episode ahead of schedule. But the full commentary will have to wait until the next One-Shot episode. Enjoy the mysterious conclusion of the spice runner’s story.

zorii-bliss(edit)

Well, no job is as simple as it seems for Zorii Bliss and her crew. Two unlikely characters were selected to negotiate for payment, and it wouldn’t be Nal Hutta without a dark ally shootout, or some sketchy gambling. We did invent along the way an off the cuff a new casino dice game, and a play for our gamblers to ensure a profit. That’s what this episode holds in store.
