Intro Post: Six Thrones of Bone

Hey folks, I thought it’d be fun to try something new. In addition to the audio podcasts, I’m going to be doing some writeups of something new I’m trying: solo roleplaying games.

We all love getting together and playing. But there’s sometimes gaps in the schedule where people aren’t available. A tale as old as time: schedule conflicts keep us from playing games.

This is a way to try enjoying the hobby more. I’ve been learning more about games specifically designed for a single person to play. I found one that looked quite different from what I’ve played previously. It’s called Six Thrones of Bone, and it’s out from Gallant Knight Games (check out the game’s blurb at the link).

Based on the SRD for Firelights from Fari RPGs, this game combines dice and cards to create an interesting play experience. It’s very tactile, and I’m enjoying that aspect of it.

So, as a taste of what’s to come, here’s my character sheet.

Name: Guenter Hellstrider
Heroic Deed: (+2 Prowess) Fought out of Hell and back to mortality
Holy Deed: (+1 Devotion) Helped the unfortunate at the risk to yourself.
Great Sin: (+0 Courage) Let another fail out of envy.
Relic Weapon: Kistenhelfen. A three-chained flail with a shaft of ironwood and weights of diorite. Guenter has sworn it’s service to the aid of the less fortunate.

Character Writeup: The Necromancers thought they had bound Guenter to living hell for all eternity. After all, he was given a choice: join them as the seventh or give up his soul to save the child. The choice should have been easy. After all, his envy of the king had given them the opening to take over the realm. But he chose the more difficult path.

But his goodness and faith were tempered and purified in the arctic blasts of hellfire. And Guenter has come to right the wrong his great sin has allowed.

That’s all for now. See you next time for the first session!
