BTT WF 1.4: Commentary 1

This new world and new set of character gave us a lot to talk about for this first commentary of the campaign. We explain why we didn’t start with a full cast. However, we found out it was a great way to start because it created tension from the start, even though we all chose to play characters that were significant departures from characters in the previous campaign.

BTT WF 1.3: Seeing Red

The crew’s investigation into Vireo’s disappearance leads them to an “upscale” boutique shop, with a suspicious curator. At this point, the group isn’t going to leave any suspicion unchallenged, so things are bound to get uncomfortable and potentially dangerous. We’ll see if these characters can hold their own in the campaign’s first instance of combat.

BTT WF Prologue: Fiasco 3

Since we are actually going to spend quite some time with these characters in a long-term campaign, we used the “soft tilt” to be sure that they were not utterly destroyed after another round of play of Fiasco. We really see the dynamics of the group start to take shape with some underlying conflicts that will certainly add to the adventures to come.

BTT Campaign World Building: Reliquary, Ep. 3

We wrap up the gameplay with a couple big discoveries, and we really leaned into the collaborative nature for these final moments. We then give some brief commentary on the game and some things we DID modify for our world building purposes, and some things we WOULD modify if we played it again in the future. Finally, we discuss the last steps we need to take before we launch into our next long-run campaign.

BTT Campaign World Building: Reliquary, Ep. 2

We explore a few different locations in this episode with varying results. We get accustomed to the rule set as we create some rumors, legends, and even some questions that unfortunately will not get answered in THIS game. However, there are a couple threads that are weaving their way into the fabric of this world that we’re sure will bring some interesting texture to our upcoming campaign.

BTT Campaign World Building: Microscope, Ep. 7

After our first time recording a game of Microscope, we STILL hadn’t had enough world building to satisfy us. So we discuss what comes next in terms of honing in on the “era” we will play in, and character creation. We reflect on some of our collaborative story-telling choices from past campaigns, and FINALLY decide on and reveal the name of the upcoming campaign. Listen and find out.

BTT Campaign World Building: Microscope, Ep. 5

Another round of play to flesh out the world in this episode. We decided to do a fair amount of dictated scenes this time, diving deep to look at how an individual character might be affected and even change the course of history. We also learned something new about the rules of this game.

BTT Campaign World Building: Microscope, Ep. 3

One more quick round of play for this initial world build. Jeremy takes a turn as the lens, and Jordan closes it out as the legacy. With that combination, our timeline ended up with a “dark” era… or period. We can’t decide which term to use. But on thing that we ARE certain of this that we love this world we are creating so far. We hope you will too.

BTT Campaign World Building: Microscope, Ep. 2

BTT Campaign World Building: Microscope, Ep. 1

We’re on to our next long-term campaign. But before we get to the story, we thought we’d share a bit of the journey of how we get there. This will be our third world we’ve built for our campaigns using this game, Microscope. Needless to say we really enjoy this method. In this episode we cover our inspirations, pallet (yeses and nos), the big idea for our story, and the bookends of the timeline.

BTT One-Shot: Kingdom, Ep. 4

What’s it going to take for the Spaceheads to make a decision on their future? A Loan Shark, dirty money, and a couple shady pacts may play a vital role of two in the fate of music in the galaxy.  Seems a bit grandiose? We thought so too, but you have to see how it all turned out.

Crossroad or Crisis? Will the band, The Spaceheads, take a gig on Earth on the next stop on the Space Jam Tour? There are a lot of obstacles on the road to fame and fortune; low funds, label pressure, restraining orders… and a possible line up change. Whether this opportunity is a good thing or not remains to be seen, but there is definitely tension, turmoil, and talking behind each others’ back.

We play some musical chairs for this one-shot and switch seats. Jeremy ends up in the driver’s seat as the GM for one of his favorite systems, Shadowrun. We’ve referenced this game quite a bit and now finally sit down to play it. But this isn’t your standard run, we’ve put a twist or two in the mechanics and story. In true SG-1 fashion, the action climaxes with a showdown at the gate while the group tries to escape. We had a lot of fun with this episode, despite the mission and our rolls not going according to plan. An eerily deserted base camp, a disabled DHD, an unexpected acid rain storm, and in true BTT fashion, a plethora of word-play jokes are what the group has to overcome on the first leg of their mission.

In this episode we attempted to tackle the mechanics of a “Convince Encounter”. Our horrible roles didn’t allow things to go as smoothly as intended, although they made it highly entertaining as the group escapes a diplomatic crisis. BTT One-Shot: Star Wars 4 (Commentary)

zorii-bliss(edit)

This is not our normal commentary style episode, as we only briefly touch what we did in our play of the roleplaying game then jump fully into what we were all waiting for… our commentary/review of Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker. From the visuals, to acting, to our favorite scenes, we touch a little bit of everything, sharing our opinions on what we liked, what we didn’t like, and our differing theories on some of the finer details that are left to our imaginations. In the end, we had a great time discussing a saga that has been in the hearts of so many for 42 years!

Well, no job is as simple as it seems for Zorii Bliss and her crew. Since most of us have a love for all things Star Wars, including the roleplaying game, we decided to have some fun after we all saw The Rise of Skywalker. If for some reason, you haven’t seen the movie by now, there will be spoilers throughout this one-shot, as well as many Star Wars tropes and one-liners. And as an added twist, Johnny will be running the game, allowing Jordan to join the cast of characters… and characters they are.
